“Everybody you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind.” After posting my transformation photo yesterday, I got a few messages relating to mental health. This got me thinking about my past, which I’ve been thinking about a LOT lately because I FINALLY feel like I’m making improvements.
The photo on the left was taken on my 21st birthday. I was tired, numb, emotionless. I stopped being able to taste the flavor of foods, had migraines that lasted for days, was always cold, had trouble focusing, and remember losing feeling in parts of my body. I was literally shutting down on the inside, but still smiling on the outside.
I was trying SO hard to do it all and please everyone around me. I wanted to work out, eat healthy, be good at school, be good at my jobs, and not let anyone down. But in the end, I let myself down.
I stopped drinking @shakeology and taking my birth control because the expenses of the two brought me too much stress. I also attempted to maintain a diet without meat, dairy, and much sugar. Then working out became hard and unenjoyable.
I suffered from vitamin deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and stress overload. This made me feel constantly tired, anxious and depressed.
The photo on the right was taken in December. That girl has come a long way over the past 8 months, and is FINALLY feeling better.
Every morning I take 2 B-12 vitamins, birth control, and anti-depressants. I drink Shakeology and know it is an investment in me and my HEALTH. I do BBG because I love the program and it makes me happy. And the ONLY dietary restriction I have is dairy, because I am lactose intolerant. Otherwise, I eat what I want.
It’s a new year, and if you want to be a “new you,” please, please, please… do it right. Manage your stress load. Adapt to a diet, workouts, and schedule that are ENJOYABLE and MAINTAINABLE for you. Get enough sleep. Drink enough water. Take care of yourself. And get help if you need it. Life is too short for anything less.
