Weight Loss vs. Weight Gain with Chicken Shawarma with Roasted Butternut Squash from Page 44 of The Meal Prep Manual-2nd Edition eBook 😎

Butternut squash is a great way to add volume for not a whole lot of calories. When you roast it it tastes similar to a sweet potato but the texture is admittedly not as good. I think it pairs well in this dish with the middle eastern flavors of the Shawarma Chicken. One way you can save calories when you’re cooking meat is to bake it instead of pan frying. You don’t have to use nearly as much oil (if any) so you save on fat calories. You’ll lose flavor doing this though. On the weight gain side the obvious inclusion is one cup of rice. Adding rice to any meal is my favorite way to add calories because it’s almost straight carbs and it is so bland that it goes with anything! .

You guys that follow me know the deal with the weight loss and weight gain posts. It’s all about calorie balance, carbs are not inherently bad, everyone will be different, these images a just visuals for what it COULD look like blah blah blah. I know many of you get it and understand the intent behind these posts. However, recently there have been an increasing number of people who don’t follow me that comment on these types of posts saying that it’s not true or nitpicking something about the photo. I can’t post the same caption underneath every picture with a disclaimer saying all of the above points. That would be extremely low value to all of you guys who actually do follow me and expect to learn something. So keep in mind for the future, anytime there is a weight loss or weight gain post know that it is all relative. What is weight loss to one person will be weight gain to another. You need to determine your specific calorie needs for yourself!!
