The guilt of skipping workouts😥😥
So you had time and couldn’t push yourself to go, or you didn’t have time/didn’t prioritize it, and still feel like shit for not going. You feel guilty and a bit useless😔 I used to have times I felt like this and it and here’s my advice when this happens:
1️⃣Skipping a few workouts is not the end of the world🌎☄️ ITS A GD WORKOUT. For most of us, the gym is not our #1 priority (I know it’s not mine), so yes, there will be times you miss some workouts so you don’t miss out on your other priorities👨👩👦👦 .
2️⃣ITS A JOURNEY🌅-if you’re doing it right this fitness thing isn’t just for a few weeks, your fitness journey will be going your whole life. This means it’s going to have ups and downs, it also means you have time. Look at your situation in the bigger picture🌎 If you get back on it, you won’t even remember this small blip in a month😛
3️⃣MAKE IT SUSTAINABLE🔋- most people working out 6-7 days a week isn’t going to work(that actually sounds like hell to me lmao) I usually workout 4-5 times a week. This is sustainable for me with my schedule and my priorities📋 (the gym is one of them!! Just not #1). You can see great results going the the gym 3 times a week, if that’s what you can sustain over a long period of time. Be honest with yourself when making your goals📈
4️⃣ ACCEPT IT AND DON’T MAKE IT A HABIT- ask yourself- why did I skip these sessions? Was your body physically drained? Did you have other priorities👨👩👦👦? Did you not plan? Could you not get out of bed? Look at the reasons surrounding it and find solutions. Ex: Make a schedule at the beginning of your week and schedule your sessions in📆; bring your gym clothes to work so you don’t go home to first be tempted by your bed😴😴 5️⃣YOUR BODY NEEDS REST- to build up muscle and strength- your workouts create microtears in your muscles. Your body then needs TIME to repair this. It repairs it stronger than it was before and that =strength gains🏋🏻♂️. Your needed rest times vary quite a lot depending on different factors (age, intensity, experience, muscle groups- I could go on and on), (CONTINUED IN COMMENTS PLZ READ😌❤️)
