Let’s talk persimmons! 😋 (*swipe to see a nutritional comparison to an apple*) .
I’m sure some of you are like “wtf is a persimmon?!” right about now. Let me break it off for you because a persimmon is one of my favorite fall/winter fruits.
.
Persimmons are Japan’s national fruit, but said to have originated in China. Persimmons are now gaining popularity globally and are sold across the U.S., grown predominantly in California.
.
Curious about the taste? To me, it tastes like an apple made love to a plum and gave birth to this beautiful creation called a persimmon.
.
Now sure how to eat it? Here are 6 different ways to incorporate persimmons into your nutrition routine. Personally, I like to eat them like I would an apple. (Taste best when somewhere between firm & soft but not too soft)
.
Add to smoothies – example: 1 persimmon + 1/2 banana + vanilla protein + water & ice
.
Cook w/ coconut oil – In a pan add coconut oil. Add the peeled persimmons and cinnamon. Sauté for a few minutes.
.
Add to overnight oats – example: 1/2 cup oats + 1 tbsp maple syrup + almond milk + 1 persimmon + shredded coconut
.
Enjoy with Greek yogurt – example: Greek yogurt + Stevia + pecans + cinnamon + 1 persimmon.
.
Top on rice cake – example: rice cake + almond butter + persimmon slices.
.
Eat like an apple 🙂
