Weight Loss vs Weight Gain with Pork Carnitas and Calabacitas from Page 33 of The Meal Prep Manual – 2nd Edition EBook. Out of all of the recipes I have, this is my favorite meal to cook. It takes a couple of hours and is a bit more of a time investment than some of the others but it’s always worth it in the end. .

Like always, you need to adjust any meal to fit your needs. Eating one meal is not going to make you gain or lose weight, it’s all about your relationship to calorie balance over a period of time. If you are someone who prefers to eat 6 times a day, your meals are going to need to be smaller. For those of you who follow intermittent fasting, your meals are probably a bit bigger. Use your judgment and make the necessary adjustments. Any picture you see on this page is meant to be used as a visual guide and is not a perfect solution for everyone. .

On the weight loss side there is a huge serving of vegetables. You guys know how much I hate vegetables but they are much more palatable when served with a side of homemade salsa. The portion of meat is a bit smaller as well. Pork is a bit higher in calories than the other meats so this meal is a tad indulgent. I only make this one once every couple of months. You could make the same meal using chicken or beef if you wanted to and it would help lower the caloric load. .

The weight gain side includes a cup of rice to bump up the carb and calorie load. It also has more meat leading to more protein and fat. One tip I would suggest is adding extra salsa if you increase the amount of meat. It’s nice to have extra to use on the vegetables and it’s not calorie dense at all so you can add flavor without impacting your calorie load all that much. .
